Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between a serif and a sans serif font?
Serifs are semi-structural details or small decorative flourishes on the ends of some of the strokes that make up letters and symbols. An example would be the Times New Roman font. Sans serif does not have these details or flourishes. An example would be the Arial font.
It is said that serif fonts are usually easier to read in larger text areas like in books, magazines, in body content on websites. And sans serif fonts are used regularly because of how clean they tend to look in those main text areas.
Do I need a special program to customize these backgrounds?
Before you can work with the templates and backgrounds you need to make sure you have Photoshop or Elements. To get a free trial you can go to Adobe.
While I’m on the subject of Photoshop I might mention an exciting change Adobe made recently. Photoshop went to a subscription model. Why is that exciting? Well it’s good news for you because you can have the latest full version of Photoshop and Lightroom for the price of a couple of Starbucks Lattes each month. It’s only $9.99.
What is the difference between the Photoshop and Elements versions of backgrounds?
The Elements version of all the templates can be used in Photoshop and Elements. However, the Photoshop version cannot be used in Elements.
The reason is because Photoshop is a more robust program offering more features and layer FX. Also Photoshop gives the option to organize layers in folders.
Elements does not have the option for folders, so when you open a layered background with folders in Elements you cannot get to the layers in the folders, making it difficult to work with.
The good news is that you will have access to both versions in your download area so if later you upgrade to Photoshop, you can go to the member area and download the Photoshop version of your products.
